NORDEN vol. 04
The Scandinavian model of the welfare state, also called the “Swedish model”, is based on offering a wide range of efficient and quality social services, in exchange for very high taxes for citizens. However, it is also a model based on an individualistic perception of the world, since the self-sufficiency and autonomy provided by the State generates, in turn, a degradation of personal and family relationships.
After a decade of receiving massive waves of immigrants and refugees, Swedish society and its welfare state are now facing new challenges, and a more than likely paradigm shift. In the face of the exodus of young people, as well as the need to reactivate some of its economic sectors with more history, the rural area is now postulated as a welcome and integration scenario.
NORDEN is a long-term documentary project that seeks to address in depth the hidden face of the Nordic countries through the concept of silence. A document about the fragility of things that are silent, and with which we latently live.
